Who We Are

Christ Church Missoula is a biblical covenant community founded upon Christ-centered covenant renewal worship, preaching and teaching of God’s Word, observation of the sacraments, community service & outreach, and a strong emphasis on family and Christian education. As a church of Jesus Christ, we are “committed to the apostles’ teaching, and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). text

Christ Church Missoula was founded in December 2008 and began covenant renewal worship services in January 2009 as a mission church under the general oversight and jurisdiction of Christ Church of Moscow, Idaho. In the Fall of 2012 Christ Church Missoula was particularized to be a self-governing church.

Since there is “one faith, one Lord and one Baptism” (Eph. 4:5), Christ Church Missoula is connected by the Spirit to all those who profess the Christian faith and are baptized into the triune name of God. Furthermore, believing it important to have a polity which connects us with other churches institutionally, we are a member church of Knox Presbytery within the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches.

As a church, our statement of faith is included in our Book of Confessions on this website and contains those creeds and confessions of the historic church to which we subscribe, including the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Definition of Council of Chalcedon (451 A.D.), the Athanasian Creed, the 39 Articles of Religion, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Canon’s of Dort, and the Westminster Confession of Faith & Shorter Catechism. Since these theological documents vary slightly from one another, we tend to use the Westminster Confession (with some stated differences) as our default Standard for examining the doctrine of church officers. While the officers of Christ Church Missoula commend our historic creeds and confessions to all Christians, we do not require church members to embrace all the statements contained therein; and we encourage our members to be in fellowship with followers of Christ from other Christian traditions, keeping in mind the apostle Paul’s exhortation to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph 4:1-3).

Book of Confessions

  • Weekly covenant renewal worship which includes reading and preaching of God’s Word, singing of Psalms and hymns, corporate prayer, and the Lord’s Supper;
  • Teaching that is squarely in the reformed evangelical tradition, and that recognizes Christ’s lordship over all of creation and every aspect of our lives;
  • Raising our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord with particular emphasis on family discipleship and Christian education;
  • An optimistic view of history with the expectation that the gospel will gradually spread throughout the world and one day all nations will submit to Christ.

Our current ministries include Lord’s Day worship service with communion, and monthly fellowships and “Pot-Luck”; and our deacons oversee a benevolence fund to meet needs in the local community.

Our Church is governed by a session of elders, and served by deacons.

Lord’s Day Services are held Sundays at 10:00 a.m. at CONVERGENCE MINISTRIES 3020 South Avenue West
